Switzerland - Murren - Magnificent! (Part 1)

After our adventure in the Black Forest our group headed up to Murren, Switzerland for a three night stay. Murren is perched high on a ledge in the Swiss alps. There are a only a few ways to Murren, all via train or cable car, only the locals can drive up which means there are very few cars in town. We took the Schilthornbahn cable car to the top which entails a quick transfer to a second car at Gimmelwald. The ride up is exhilarating and provides breathtaking views of the mountain vistas and the Lautterbrunen valley below. However, it can be a bit challenging for those who have issues with heights.

Once in Murren one looks is picture worthy and I could have posted many more beautiful photos, but here are just a few. The buildings and chalets are charming and the views are almost unbelievable.

On our second day we took a train up to the Piz Gloria to view the panoramic landscape of the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau mountains.   This is where the 1968 James Bond movie "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" was filmed. There are lots of 007 references and even a short movie theater with highlights of the movie.

It was a bit foggy but we got a few better photos on the way down, even a great group shot. Oh yes, it was c-c-old too! That's 5 degrees Celsius - 41 degrees Fahrenheit.

We ended the day back down in Murren with warmer weather, a nice hike and picnic lunch. Here we are and here is our view. We were all waiting for Peter, Clara, Heidi and grandfather to show up.
