I arrived in Florence on Tuesday morning and hit the ground running with Patti and Margaret. First we went to the leather market and did a bit of shopping and then toured the city making the rounds of the Ponte Vecchio, the gold market (Bob was grateful to hear that I didn't buy anything here) and then we climbed over 400 hundred stairs to the top of the Duomo for a panoramic view of the city.
Shopping and our collective purchases - we did well!
Yesterday we took the train to Treviso and went to THE Pinarello bike shop and purchased a few necessary items. There we also met the manager who has worked there for 27 years. He showed us all the bikes and chatted with us for quite awhile about bikes and the history of the shop.It appears that Giovanni Pinarello passed away a few weeks ago, we were not aware of that while we were there.
At the bike shop where Margaret picked out her new bike, the NEW Pinarello Dogma F8. Oops, not so fast that baby is a little over $12,000 US. Maybe next visit.
I still have this crummy little cold and so while Patti and Margaret went back to the center of town for dinner, I stayed back and went to bed early. I look forward to touring this charming canal town more today.
Rest in peace...

Gail: Wow no gold from the gold market. How sad. Not even a small piece. Terry
