7. June 6, 2019 - We Ride!

Today we begin to ride! We picked up our bikes and did our shake down tour. This is truly where the rubber meets the road and find out what adjustments we need to make and also what we may have forgotten. I for one forgot to load my “base map” in my Garmin making all the maps I brought with turn-by-turn route directions absolutely useless.

I am however able to do some tracking of kilometers/miles ridden and can see current speed and elevation profiles so all is not lost. Lesson learned.  Oh well, I just can’t let Margaret out of my sight, or for that matter she doesn’t want to be responsible for losing me in France.

We had a very large group riding today but spread out a bit more throughout the day. Unfortunately there was one accident today as a woman rider from Arizona, but not part of our group, slipped and fell on some oil on the road while making a turn. She is okay but is in the local hospital getting treated for a nasty hematoma.

We rode through some beautiful countryside filled with vineyards and spring flowers. We are definitely in France!
